About the Journal

The Digital Publishing Lab is a training journal designed to allow registered users to engage in role-playing exercises through which they can learn to use the system, understand the publication workflow, peer review, copyright, academic honesty/misconduct, working with digital media, and editing a journal with various tool chains listed in the OJS Libguide. The journal may be used in conjunction with the OJS Workskops or after conducting the workshop. For each session, a group of students can engage in a role (editor, copyeditor, author, and reviewer) and produce a special issue containing original writing (such as past course assignments), which will be deleted at the end of the session as to avoid infringement on the copyright of those works. As such, the journal aims to prepare participants for emerging opportunities in the academic environment where Open Access publishing has gained considerable support and momentum, and can offer their new skills to the departments they work or study in.
